Building Safer Pathways
From programme design to responsible pilot delivery.
Street2Scholar is developing a safeguarded, age- and needs-informed programme for street-connected children and disadvantaged young people.
Our current focus is on:
- preparing the TANOY and Triple-A programme model;
- developing safeguarding and referral arrangements;
- building local partnerships;
- designing baseline and monitoring tools;
- preparing for the planned Kaduna North pilot.

Exploring collaboration to expand educational access in Kaduna
In August 2026, an S2S delegation met with the Kaduna State Planning and Budget Commission to explore collaborative approaches to supporting out-of-school and street-connected children. This forms part of the Foundation’s preparation for its planned Kaduna North pilot.
Programme status: S2S is currently in its design, safeguarding, partnership and pilot-launch phase. Verified outputs and outcomes will be published as delivery progresses.

Why S2S Exists
No child should have to call the street home.
Across Nigeria, poverty, insecurity, displacement, family separation and exclusion from education can place children and young people in unsafe and uncertain circumstances. Many face barriers to learning, wellbeing support, family stability and future opportunities.
These challenges are connected. A child may struggle to remain in education because their family is under pressure. A young person may need practical skills, confidence and appropriate support before they can progress towards work or further training.
Street2Scholar (S2S) exists to help address the whole picture. We are developing a safeguarded, age- and needs-informed programme that brings together family and community support, education, digital and vocational skills, health education, wellbeing support, appropriate referrals and youth leadership.
Our aim is simple: to help street-connected children and disadvantaged young people move towards greater safety, learning, confidence and independence.

The TANOY Model
Five connected forms of support. One pathway towards safety, learning and independence.
Street-connected children and disadvantaged young people often face overlapping challenges involving safety, education, family support, wellbeing and future opportunity. The TANOY Model brings these dimensions together around the child or young person.
Together supports family and community connections. Achieve supports education and learning progression. Nurture supports health education, wellbeing and protection. Overcome supports skills, livelihoods and progression. Youth Leadership supports voice, confidence and positive participation.
TANOY is not five separate programmes. It is the framework that guides the support S2S seeks to provide through the Triple-A Pathway: ACHIEVE, ASPIRE and ACCELERATE. Support is adapted according to age, circumstances, needs and safeguarding considerations.
S2S is currently preparing its programme for pilot delivery. Activities and services are subject to safeguarding, operational readiness, partnerships and available funding.
What S2S Hopes to Make Possible
Every child’s circumstances are different. Through the TANOY Model and Triple-A Pathway, S2S seeks to bring together support that helps children and young people move towards greater safety, learning, confidence and independence.
The journeys below are illustrative composites, not individual beneficiary case studies. They show what S2S hopes to make possible as the programme develops.
A child entering ACHIEVE
A child who has been out of school may receive an assessment, learning support, family engagement and help accessing education. Wellbeing, safeguarding and appropriate referrals remain part of the support around the child.
A young person moving through ASPIRE
An adolescent may combine academic support with coding, digital skills, mentoring and leadership opportunities. The aim is to help them remain engaged in learning and develop confidence about their future.
A young adult reaching ACCELERATE
A young adult may progress through vocational, enterprise or employability support towards further training, employment or self-employment. The appropriate pathway will depend on the person’s interests, circumstances, skills and available opportunities.
Programme status: S2S is developing its curriculum, safeguarding systems, partnerships and pilot delivery. Verified outputs and outcomes will be published as data becomes available.
