From Pastry to Purpose
A moment of compassion became a long-term commitment.
In 2008, while working in Nigeria as an educator and IT professional, Sara Adeniyi witnessed a group of street-connected children sharing a small pastry. Each child took a little, leaving enough for everyone else.
The moment stayed with her - not only because it revealed the hardship these children faced, but because it showed their generosity, dignity and capacity to care for one another.
Over time, Sara’s experience in education, technology and child and adolescent mental health deepened her conviction that short-term relief alone is not enough. Children need safe relationships, access to education, protection, wellbeing support and realistic pathways towards opportunity.
That conviction led to the creation of Street2Scholar Foundation in 2026.
Our Story
Street2Scholar Foundation was founded in 2026 by Sara Adeniyi, following years of professional experience in education and information technology and further study in child and adolescent mental health and wellbeing.
S2S was created from a clear conviction: children and young people facing street connection, educational exclusion and poverty need more than temporary relief. They need support that recognises the links between safety, family relationships, learning, wellbeing, skills and future opportunity.
S2S is therefore developing a coordinated programme based on two connected frameworks:
The TANOY Model, which brings together family and community support, learning, nurture, progression and youth leadership.
The Triple-A Pathway, which adapts support across ACHIEVE, ASPIRE and ACCELERATE stages.
The Foundation is currently focused on programme design, safeguarding, partnerships, monitoring and preparation for planned pilot activity in Kaduna North

Vision
A Nigeria where no child is forced to call the street home, and every child and young person has the opportunity to learn, feel safe, develop their strengths and pursue a hopeful future.
Mission
To support street-connected children and disadvantaged young people towards safer and more independent futures through education, skills development, mentoring, family and community support where safe and appropriate, health education, wellbeing support, appropriate referrals and youth participation.
How We Work
Through the TANOY Model and Triple-A Pathway, S2S is developing support across education, family and community connection, wellbeing, skills, progression and youth leadership. Support will be age- and needs-informed rather than identical for every child.
Where We Are Now
S2S is currently preparing its programme, safeguarding arrangements, partnerships and monitoring systems ahead of planned pilot activity in Kaduna State. We will publish verified outputs, learning and outcomes as implementation progresses.
We do not see children as problems to be solved.
We see children and young people with rights, strengths, aspirations and potential - and we believe they deserve the support and opportunities to shape their own futures.
